Feedback from class

I gave a questionaire for my classmates to fill in to get feedback on my magazine. This told me what they thought about my magazine and whether I was successful to target the correct audience. From this I have clearly targeted the right audience as they have all said teenagers. They have all said I have used all the typical codes and conventions of a magazine, which was a big aim to do. They have all said I have used a good use of colour and fonts, which was also an important thing to do.

Developing with my contents page

Today, I have started to design my contents page, I have carried  on with the girly colour scheme. I have put hearts next to each heading. I have also placed a picture of a makeup set as it's a girly item that girls love. I also have put the front cover of the magazine on it as I have pointed out which parts are on which page of the magazine. I got this idea from 'We love pop' magazine.

My final contents page

This is my final contents page. I have developed it from the one above by adding a box from the magazine editor Laura. This makes it grab the audience's attention as they are persuading you to buy the magazine by using the words  'girly gossip'  and 'new pop artists'. I also looked at a Top of the pops magazine and their layout. I have used a similar layout as it attracts a younger audience.

Experimenting with my double page spread

Today, I have started designing my double page spread. I have used a long shot of the artist on the right hand side. I blended the background colours together to make it look professional. I used different fonts to make it look funky and not boring. I have used a catchy headline 'A new shine to the pop music bizz!'. This grabs the audiences attention as its a brand new artist and young readers will want to read about this. I have used some of the photo-shoot photos on the right hand side, as young readers like to see pictures of artists. It makes it interesting to look at. I have also included a bubble 'I followed my dream' to inspire young girls that their dreams can come true if they don't give up.

My final double page spread

This is my final double page spread. I have experimented with hot pink and peach circles on the page. This worked well and makes the page more girly and funky.  I got this idea from a previous we love pop magazine as I thought it looked good and unusual. I am happy with my final double page spread as I think it attracts the audience and is catchy for people to read the article.

Experimenting with my magazine cover

Here I have chosen a close up shot for the background image. I liked this image as the hair looks golden and glossy which a celebrities hair usually looks like on the front cover of magazines.  I have used different fonts on the magazine to make it interesting and catch the audience's attention. I have used a catchy magazine name 'Non stop pop'.

My final magazine cover

This is my final magazine cover. I changed the background to a different image of the model. This looked better as I prefer the way her hair looks and shes directly looking at the audience. I am pleased with my final magazine cover, as it has the typical codes and conventions of a pop music magazine.

Edited photos

To edit my photos I used a editing website called pic monkey. I have edited each photo by changing the saturation lighter and then changed the filter to Cross Process. This filter brings out the pink in the background and also adds golden to the hair.
Photoshoot planning

Photoshoot Title: Photoshoot for magazine

Photoshoot Concept:This photoshoot will help me capture some good shots professionally. I will take close up shots and also long shots to create a different mood and also to show their clothing.

Aims: From this photoshoot I want to achieve good professional photos which create a sophisticated look and also a smiley and cute look as my genre is pop.

Date & Timings: I will take these photographs during the weekend. It will take around 3 hours, this is important as I will need to make sure their hair and makeup is done professionally in this time.

Location: I will take my photographs in my house because the main focus is on the model rather than the location.

Props: I won’t need any props for my shoot as I want it took look simple and focused on the mood of the model.

Models: My friends Lauren and Cherrice.

Team: I will have a make-up artist handy who will do the models make-up.

Equipment & Preparation: I will use a canon camera with enough memory to take as many photos to find the perfect one. I will ensure the batteries are charged.

Desired Shots: I will include long shots and close up shots to create a different atmosphere. From research of pop magazines this has helped me consider the composition of the magazine and how the model is placed. I will make them play around with their body language and facial expressions. I will also make sure they are placed against a clear background to make the shot professional.  The lighting will also be considered as I want to make sure the lighting is high key to fit with the bubbly genre.
